Wolves vs Chelsea press conference: Lampard's first message to the fans, first impression of the squad, thought on his return and Mount update(first training pics and interview text)

Frank Lampard, who is beginning his second spell as Chelsea manager, has shared his thoughts on his new squad, the message he would like to give the Blues supporters and an update on Mason Mount. Lampard was confirmed in his new role as Chelsea's caretaker manager earlier this week. However, he has not had a chance to lead his team in training at Cobham ahead of his first match at Wolverhampton Wanderers in Saturday's Premier League fixture.

Speaking to the media, Lampard said he was excited to work with the squad and help them. He acknowledged that modern-day football has big squads and Chelsea might be at the top end of that. He said part of his job was to try to manage that situation and make every player feel included. Lampard also discussed the issue of goal scoring, saying there was no genius answer to explain how to score goals. He said he would work with repetition on the training ground and speak with the players, something that was a big part of his game.

Before taking to the dug-out in front of the Chelsea supporters again at Molineux on Saturday, Lampard was asked if there was anything he would like to say to the Blues fans. Lampard, who played for Chelsea for 13 years and coached the team, said he was thankful for the ones that were delighted he was back. He said that if there were some who were not delighted, they could know he would work his utmost to get the team to where he wanted it to be and to give them a team they could be proud of.

One member of the current Chelsea squad who Lampard already knows well is Mason Mount, who he handed a Blues debut to in 2019, having previously worked together at Derby County. Lampard said Mount had always been a fantastic player for him, from his days at Derby, where he had a big impact, to when Lampard came back to Chelsea. Mount has had issues with injury this season, but Lampard is hopeful of having the Academy graduate back on the pitch and performing at his best soon.

Cesar Azpilicueta has been unavailable since going off with a head injury against Southampton in February. Thiago Silva and Armando Broja are also out with injuries.

Lampard’s return to Chelsea as caretaker manager

Frank Lampard has made his return to Chelsea as the club's caretaker manager. Lampard, who played for Chelsea for 13 years, winning numerous trophies, has been given the task of turning around the club's fortunes following the sacking of Thomas Tuchel.

Lampard, who is widely regarded as one of the best players in Chelsea's history, has already made an impact in his first few days back at the club. He was in the stands at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday evening to watch the team's 0-0 draw with Liverpool.

Speaking after the game, Lampard said he was excited to be back at the club and was looking forward to working with the squad. He acknowledged that modern-day football had big squads and that Chelsea might be at the top end of that. He said his job was to try to manage that situation and make every player feel included.

Lampard also discussed the issue of goal scoring, saying there was no genius answer to explain how to score goals. He said he would work with repetition on the training ground and speak with the players, something that was a big part of his game.
