Manchester United star Phil Jones won't be involved in Thursday night's Europa League tie with Sevilla.
Manchester United star Phil Jones was left in ‘serious distress’ after he suffered an injury relapse earlier in the season, according to reports. The England international has found himself in the spotlight after recent injuries to Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez. However, he isn’t registered to play in the Premier League and has been unable to complete a single training session all season.
Some United fans have suggested Jones being an option to replace Varane and Martinez, with the club currently relying on Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof to stay fit.
But, according to The Athletic, the England international won’t be returning to the field any time soon. It’s claimed Jones, who played five times last season, isn’t registered in Erik ten Hag’s Premier League squad.
And though he’s able to play in the FA Cup, with the Red Devils due to lock horns with Brighton next weekend, the 31-year-old won’t be making an unexpected return. Jones hasn’t been able to complete a single Ten Hag training session all season and ‘is not considered an option’.
