Mikel Arteta's defiant message to Arsenal fans: Premier League glory still within reach despite Manchester City defeat
Arsenal's hopes of winning the Premier League title suffered a major setback on Wednesday after a 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Manchester City. The loss saw the Gunners' lead at the top of the table cut to just two points, with City having a game in hand.
Despite the setback, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is refusing to give up on his team's title aspirations. In a post-match interview, Arteta suggested there were five reasons why the Gunners could still conquer the English top flight for the first time in almost two decades.
"Today is very difficult after the way we lost, but we have to stand up and look at the bigger picture and the fact that we're competing toe-to-toe with this team - it is incredible," Arteta told BT Sport, via Sportbible.
"There are five games to go and anything can happen. I've seen a lot of things happen in more than 20 years and you have to believe that."
Arsenal have been winless in their last four games, including draws against Liverpool, West Ham, and Southampton. However, Arteta remains optimistic that his side can handle the pressure of the title race and make a late surge to clinch the trophy.
